Roof maintenance and repairing steps vary. The following are general and common repairs that almost every metal roof requires –

The Process to Patch Holes in a Metal Roof –

• It is better to use repairing metals of the same type as that of the roof. Or else, the metal used in repairing the roof can cause corrosion. At first, clean the part of the roof to be repaired using an all-purpose cleaner and brush it and then, leave it to dry.
• The patch must be larger than the damaged part by two inches. Remove the corners as well using tin snips. Get the edges folded under half inch. Sand the folded area until it looks shiny. Put flux on the part where will be the patch. Put a brick on the patch to weight it down.
• Hold solder along the seam. Heat it with soldering iron so as to melt it and make it go under the patch. Repeat the process around the patch, leaving no open space.
• Cut two or three more patches. The patches should not be smaller than the hole. Rather, they must be larger. With cement, coat the damaged roof area. Apply the other coat pressing one patch.
